Max Howell

Born in Montgomery and raised in Prattville, Max Howell attended both Auburn and Troy State University, where he played college football and earned a Master’s Degree in School Administration and Finance.  He worked as an administrator and a coach in several Division-I football programs around the South (Florida State, Ole Miss, and Troy University).

He is best known as the host of multiple syndicated sports radio programs across the South.  He was the founding member of both “Conference Call” and “Southern Sports Tonight”, and currently hosts a new network radio program “Max’d Out with Max Howell”, airing over 1500 interviews a year in eight states across the South.

He is also the president of the up-and-coming SMI Radio Network, and the national spokesman for the World Powerboat Championships, to be held annually in Destin, Fla.

Perhaps the most respected voice in the world of sports broadcasting, Jim Rome is the leading opinion-maker of his generation. As host of the nation’s premiere sports radio talk show, Rome is known for his aggressive, informed, rapid-fire dialogue.

Jim has established himself as the top choice of athletes and fans when it is time to know what is going on beyond the scoreboard.

Rome’s nationally syndicated radio program, The Jim Rome Show, a.k.a. The Jungle, airs on more than 185 radio stations each weekday and boasts more than two million listeners.

But these are no ordinary listeners; they are a legion of fans known as the clones who live and breath for Jim Rome’s “take” on the day’s larger issues of sport. It is his departure from conventional sports commentary that has resulted in Rome’s unique dialogue with his listeners.

In addition to his daily radio grind, Rome hosts Jim Rome Is Burning, a weekly live, one-hour, provocative sports talk show 7:00p.m. EST on ESPN. The program originates from Los Angeles and features opinion, Rome’s “rants,” debate and guest appearances by some of the biggest name in sports.

Rome has made a cameo appearance along side Michael Jordan in Space Jam; appeared in Blink 182’s music video; appeared on HBO’s Arliss; and released a CD, Welcome to the Jungle, which features memorable sound bites from frequent callers and the hip music regularly used on the radio show.

Rome previously served as host of the popular program The Last Word with Jim Rome, broadcast nightly on Fox Sports Net, for five years. Prior to The Last Word with Jim Rome, Jim spent a two-year stint hosting ESPN2’s Talk2, a nightly one-hour interview show. Rome began his radio career at KTMS, Santa Barbara as the “$5 dollar-an-hour” traffic reporter and covered UC Santa Barbara’s sports. He left KTMS for San Diego’s all-sports station, XTRA Sports 690.

After his debut year on SEN in Las Vegas, Arnie ventured south across the desert to Phoenix, honing his skill at the local level. After two years in PM drive, he was lured back to the network side with One-on-One Sports. After four years in Chicago, Hollywood beckoned and Arnie answered with a successfull three-year afternoon show in America's most competitive radio market. Next came the call from the South, and Arnie spent two years as morning drive co-host on Atlanta's WCNN. Finally, the circle was completed with Arnie's welcome return to Chicago and Sporting News Radio.

Name any major sporting event and Todd Wright has covered it.

Name any famous stadium or arena and Todd Wright has visited it.

Name any sports topic and Todd Wright has an opinion on it.

For over a decade and a half, Todd has made sports both his personal and professional way of life.

From his first on-air position as a play-by-play voice of the Hurricanes as a student at the University of Miami to his most recent work anchoring tournament coverage on the PGA Tour Network, Todd has pretty much done it all. And what he hasn't, he aspires to do next.

His work on local, national and satellite radio has taken him to nine Final Fours, nine national championship bowl games, seven Super Bowls and six World Series, as well as to historic venues like Lambeau Field, Cameron Indoor Stadium, Notre Dame Stadium, Daytona International Speedway and Augusta National.

However, anyone who has ever heard Todd knows that while sports is the driving force in his life, he makes time for other interests, such as the entertainment angle of prime time television, the tallest, fastest roller coasters in the world and, of course, beautiful women. Carmen Electra, Eva Longoria, Maria Sharapova, Heidi Klum and hundreds of others have been known to pop in on Todd for a visit.

In addition to his radio credits, Todd is also a columnist for various publications and websites, including Pro Football Weekly and NHL.com. He can also be seen on various television shows for Sun Sports/FSN Florida doing college football previews, fantasy football analysis and various sports commentary

The David Stein Show is the most unique show in all of talk radio. It’s a “celebration of life through sports” that touches, moves and inspires others to pay it forward. David starts each call by asking the listener to “tell me something good in your life.” By discussing the issues in sports, David creates, through radio theater, a clearing for the possibility of anything happening.

Just in the past couple of months, some amazing things have happened: a family in North Carolina got together after 24 years of not talking to each other! That occurred after a show on “Little League Horror Stories.” A homeless man in Arizona got the courage and spirit to put his life together because of the positive stories about sports and life he heard on the show over the past six months. An Illinois man’s daughter was able to go to a clinic to help get her off of Zoloft and Ritalin. She was 11 years old. This happened due to a show on Ron Artest and drug use in sports. Not many positive things have happened from Ron Artest!. And a man named Trent called the show just to tell David something good in his life. He said he was living the dream and going to as many ballparks this summer as possible. David asked how he had that kind of time. Trent then told the story of getting hit by an RPG in Iraq last year, and after 15 surgeries, he is now okay and living the dream. Trent is coming to LA to see a Dodgers game through the generosity of SNR and the listeners. He told David that this was the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for him. David responded, “no, Trent, you going to Iraq and getting blown up so we can live free is the nicest thing anyone’s ever done for us.”

Before joining Sporting News Radio, David was host of the Fox Sports Radio Morning Show and the host of World Poker Tour Radio on XM Satellite Radio.

He began his career in the suburbs of Philadelphia as a stand-up comedian where he still owns one of the longest-running comedy clubs in the country - David Stein's Reading Comedy Outlet - in Reading, PA. As a performer, he has opened up for Jerry Seinfeld, George Carlin, Steven Wright, and more!

His recent TV appearances include guest appearances on The Golf Channel, Inside Edition, The Paula Zahn Show and … yes, The Strip Poker Network (as a host, not a player!).

David Stein’s "Top 102 Top 10 Lists and Other Morning Show Stuff" was his first book, and a huge seller in Amish Country.

Winner of several awards for radio, including First Place Awards from UPI and The Philadelphia Press Association, David has broadcast LIVE from big-time events such as The US Open Golf Championship, The Masters, US Open tennis, World Series and League Championship Series NASCAR, NHRA, IRL, The Democratic and Republican National Conventions, The Presidential Inauguration; plus, he has broadcast shows from INSIDE The White House. His play-by-play duties have included baseball, football and the American Legion World Series.

David gives back to the community by hosting The Annual David Stein Easter Seals Golf Classic.

David has been the host/MC for The Los Angeles Rescue Mission Easter Day Celebration in downtown L.A.

This year, David trained and raised money for The Los Angeles AIDS Marathon. Yes, he finished in 6:02! He’s not ready to move to Kenya.

Once upon a time, David went to The Hill School in Pottstown, PA, and Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, PA. Also, let it be known that David has a dead cat named Seve’ and lives in Los Angeles.

Steve Cofield is on board with Sporting News Radio. You never know what to expect from Mr. Bitter. At times, Steve is the guy to turn to for hardcore sports breakdown. At others, you may hear him ranting about Paris Hilton, Mark Foley or American Idol.

In spite of being fat AND old, Cofield hates "Old Guy" radio, as he calls it. On his show, there's no references like "in my day" and "today's athletes don't suck."

A Las Vegas staple, doing local radio in Sin City for the last four years, Cofield has been heard everywhere. He did national sports talk for the SportsFan Radio Network from 1996-2001. His shows were heard in major markets like Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles and New York.

Prior to his local Vegas show, Steve spent a season doing Carolina Panthers radio coverage in 2002. Hosting the pre- and post-game shows, plus the wildly-popular Wesley Walls Show on WBT in Charlotte.

Bob Berger joined Sporting News Radio after teaming with Bruce Murray for WTEM-AM's morning drive sports talk show in Washington, DC. Berger anchored 'The Morning Line' and weekend sports on NBC Radio Network. He has also hosted NBC's award-winning coverage of the '88 and '92 Summer Olympics. Prior to this, Berger spent six years as Sports Director of the UPI Radio Network, where he covered numerous World Series, Super Bowls, NBA and Stanley Cup Finals, Championship fights, tennis grand slams golf majors and Olympic Games.

Bob Berger is heard every weekend on Sporting News Radio. Whether it's baseball, football, basketball hockey, golf or any major event, Berger covers the weekend's big games from coast-to-coast in a lively, entertaining and content-driven format

Bob Stelton has learned radio at one of America's best-known stations. Spending a total of five years at KJR in Seattle, Stelton worked his way up to the morning show and was a part of it for three years running. Soon after, he had his own weekend show, and was the primary fill-in host for all day parts.

Taking an active role in the station's sports coverage, Stelton was KJR's best reporter for the Seattle SuperSonics and the Seattle Mariners. He also served as the backup studio host for the Sonics radio broadcast team and the main studio host for the Seattle Storm WNBA team - both for three years. A fan of the Huskies, he covered the University of Washington football team for two years.

Long considered a voice of character and integrity, Jeff Biggs joins SNR as a reporter, update anchor, and weekend co-host.

An LA native, Jeff has worked for over 17 years in Los Angeles and has played a major role in sports talk radio, both on the local and national level.

As a host, Jeff was the regular fill-in for the Jim Rome Show, as well as the mid-day host at XTRA Sports and the host of postgame Angels, Dodgers, Lakers, Clippers and Bruins Talk.

As a reporter, Jeff has traveled as an everyday beat reporter with the Angels, Dodgers, Lakers and Raiders. He was also ESPN Radio's LA reporter for more than a decade and a drive-time sports update anchor and fill-in host for Fox Sports Radio.

Jeff and his wife Sasha have two daughters

Three-time Super Bowl champion quarterback Troy Aikman returns for a fourth season with Sporting News Radio for his weekly football show. The Troy Aikman Show airs on Sporting News Radio Thursdays from 7-8 p.m. ET beginning September 7, 2006 through February 1, 2007. Check your local listings as the show airs at various times on local affiliates.

In addition to his weekly radio show, Aikman will contribute a weekly column to Sporting News Magazine throughout the NFL regular season and playoffs along with special columns at times during the off-season.

Aikman's broadcasting career began alongside his football career. From his rookie year until his final season, Troy had a weekly radio show during the football season with Cowboys announcer Brad Sham. Troy also had a television program in the mid 1990s with veteran play-by-play man Pat Summerall. For three years he was a sports commentator covering NFL Europe games. In 2001, FOX announced that Troy would join former teammate Daryl Johnston and veteran announcer Dick Stockton to form FOX's number two NFL broadcast team. Sports Illustrated named him TV's "Top Newcomer" for 2001. Aikman returns to the NFL on FOX for his sixth season as an analyst on the number one broadcast team with play-by-play partner Joe Buck.

One of the most widely recognized and admired sports commentators in the country, James Brown (more familiarly known as “JB”) is the host of "The NFL Today" on CBS. JB will also join the ranks of play-by-play announcers for the NCCA Basketball coverage on CBS beginning next season.

JB’s sports and entertainment career spans more than two decades. He joined FOX Sports in June 1994, following ten years with CBS Sports. Among the highlights of his hosting assignments are three Super Bowls, the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville, France and the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer, Norway, the NBA finals, ten years of NCAA tournament coverage, and the NHL pre-game show. While at CBS he was also co-host of “CBS Sports Saturday/Sunday,” a weekend anthology series.

Today, in addition to co-hosting “The NFL Today”, JB hosts “The James Brown Radio Show,” on Sporting News Radio. He is a reporter/correspondent for HBO’s “Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel” and a boxing host for PPV, the pay-per-view division of Time Warner Sports (HBO).

In the Spring of 2004, JB took on two new and exciting venues. He began hosting “Head to Head with James Brown”, the one-hour behind-the-scenes interview show on FOX Sports Net. This quarterly program draws big-name athletes and celebrities discussing their lives and careers. JB also collaborated with the NFLPA and Players Inc. to produce “The JB Awards.” NFL players are personally selected by fellow teammates and JB. The awards recognize those NFL players who excel beyond the game of football and congratulate them for their commitment to achieve excellence off the field through building better communities and stronger families. The Gala will be an annual event in Washington, DC, benefiting the DC Special Olympics
